Where to go in Taipei?

Holiday in Taipei DEC'14 with boyfriend

Day 1

We took the earliest flight from singapore to taipei.
I was super excited about the vacation. I love taipei so much, and it seems like every year I would travel to taipei for holiday. First time it was with AH BOON, my mum and my younger sister. Second time it was with Hui Yi. And now, with my boyfriend!

After we checked in to Miramar Garden Hotel,
We chiong out of our hotel immediately to look for food.

The weather was so cold, like around 5 degree celsius?
So we decided to have HOTPOT!!!

Looking super tired after flight.
But the hotpot was really nice!

We were lucky that we booked a hotel that's quite convenient and affordable.
Unlike the previous time when I let my bestfriend book the hotel,
she booked this "haunted" hotel, the stupid curtain cover left side cannot cover right side,
when I was washing my face, I have to keep my eyes open because I was so afraid that Sadako might just pop up behind me -.-

After the dinner, we went to walk around 忠孝东路
taken outside SOGO shopping mall,
I want a cartier christmas tree too! With all the red boxes around the tree. heheee!

We were too tired to do anything else, so we went back early to rest.

Day 2

Initially we wanted to go to the theme park on the second day, but I couldn't wake up.
No choice but to change the plan.

We went to Deja Vu restaurant located in Huashan 1914 a joint venture by Jay Chou (周杰伦), and a magician, Liu Qian (刘谦), this 'Magic' themed restaurant showcases the personal collections of these 2 well-known Taiwan celebrities.

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for some special event ):

So we walked around this artistic place to take some photos

luckily we managed to find another restaurant around that area.

因为太难过,所以借酒消愁。

and we met JACKIE CHAN. WAHAHAHA!

went to 西门町 after that, but forgot to take photos there ):

来台北,当然要搭一下他们的摩天轮

located at Miramar entertainment park!

And I treated my baby to his favourite dessert; Haagen Dazs ice cream!

The ice creams are so cute!
can you see the angel and devil?

Went to catch a movie; dumb and dumber,
before heading to 士林夜市!

如果你来到台北却没去过士林夜市,你就等于没来过台北!

Wasted so much money,
but it was really fun competing with my bf!

The 小吃 was super delicious as well !

At first I wanted to go clubbing, but we were too tired after playing so many games.

Day 3
六福村 theme park!

We took a taxi to 六福村, took us around an hour to reach the place.
Luckily there were very few people at the place because of the cold weather,
we didn't have to queue for most of the rides!

This was our favourite ride! Must take!
Apparently we were told that during summer, people have to queue for 2hrs to take this ride.
We only queue for 15mins, lucky us!

 有童年的感觉!

Went to meet my dearest sis in taipei for dinner and to visit her place!

missed her so much! <3

we also bought some chinese new year clothes for our 狗狗!

Day 4

We met this taxi driver on our way to the theme park on day 3,
he offered to show us around taipei's tourist attractions the next day at a rate of 500 per hour which is roughly about 20 sgd. I thought it was quite reasonable and since we didn't had any plans on the fourth day we decided to take up the offer!

We went to 十分大瀑布 but it was closed for construction, so suay right ):
but I guess by now it should be open already.

Then he brought us to the gold museum.
We were told that if we could move this gold bar we can bring it home.

but it's 骗人的 !!!
如果带回家,这辈子不用愁了!

And since we can't get the gold bar!
we went to 放天灯, praying that we'll tio toto, 4D  and always win mahjong!

there are a few 天灯 for you to choose,
different colours represent different things.
Red is for health, yellow is for money, blue for career and pink is for love!

look at my excited face!

it was drizzling so we had to change our plan, instead of going to the fish market, we went back to our hotel.

And we went to taipei 101 for dinner

we went to the top floor for dinner,
I thought it was a waste of money to go up to the top floor just to see the view.
Might as well have a dinner at the highest floor,
you get to see the view and also enjoy the dinner!

There's nothing much in the taipei 101, only the branded stores (LV, dior, chanel)

We decided to go back to our hotel after dinner as the rain was getting heavier.
(我怕台风)

Day 5

we went back to the Deja Vu restaurant!
Oh ya ! Remember to make a reservation if you're thinking of going there!

The food there was nothing impressive but the "collections" in this restaurant was the second reason why we insisted on going back!
(first reason of course is because this restaurant is owned by jay chou la)

像不像 biker?

after lunch we went to explore the place once again!

they were having a playstation exhibition for their 20th anniversary!
my boyfriend was super excited, I think this is his favourite part of the trip, lol!
He went missing after taking this photo,
and when I found him, he was happily taking photos of all the playstations!

Last photo of the post!
I think this is the latest fashion in taiwan!

went for some shopping at 忠孝东路 and bought some clothes!
we didn't want to shop till the very last day so we can control ourselves and not overspend on shopping! I think that was the best choice made! It's not easy for me to control on shopping :P

就这样我们结束了我们的台北之旅!

Some tips if you're going to taipei for holiday;

The best shopping place is not 五分铺 unless you are looking for 批发货.
忠孝东路 is a much better place for shopping, if you don't mind paying more for good
quality clothes.

Things that you find in 西门町 are more costly than any other places, the clothes there are marked up to "tok" people.

If it's your first time in taipei and you are thinking of which night market to go to,
they have a few, 士林夜市 has everything you want to find in a night market so there's no point going anywhere else.

If you are thinking of bringing more than 7kg of carry on baggages onboard, remember to keep some TWD with you, if they caught you for doing that, you'd have to pay for the extra baggage fees with TWD, they don't accept credit cards. (That's what happened to my boyfriend and he almost missed the flight) It's either you pay or you throw the things away.

That's all !!

xoxoxo
